Meet Dr. Neita
I am Board Certified in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. I graduated from high school and attended The City University of New York where I earned a degree in Biology. I worked as a researcher in the Basic Sciences during both my undergraduate and graduate careers. As an undergraduate, I worked with Dr. William Jakinovich on Taste Perception in small mammals.
After graduation I worked at Pace University with Dr. Michael Levandowsky on chemoreception in prokaryotes and was a member of AChemS, the Association for Chemoreception Sciences. After this I briefly returned to work with small mammals studying Myocyte Oxygen Uptake at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in the Bronx.
Soon I felt a yearning to work with humans and went to work in the Clinical Chemistry Lab at Montefiore Medical Center which is also in the Bronx. From my interactions with the doctors who came into the lab, I realized that I was not where I wanted to be. I applied and was accepted by several schools but chose the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine on Long Island, New York.
When I was working at Pace University , I met a visiting researcher from Sao Paulo, Brasil who needed a doctor for her young daughter. I told her about the Pediatrician that I went to as a child and she enquired if he was an Osteopath. My reply was “A what?”. She was so insistent that was the only type of doctor that she would see, that I was compelled to find out what was the big deal. The Osteopathic Medicine philosophy is that “there is more to good health than just the absence of pain or disease. As guardians of wellness, DOs focus on prevention and gaining a deeper understanding of your lifestyle and environment, rather than just treating your symptoms.”
We moved to Columbus, GA over 10 years ago and I have worked in this community in Private Practice, Primary Care at an FQHC (Federally Qualified Health Center) and Urgent Care settings. As a member of the ‘Sandwich Generation”, caring for children and aging seniors, I understand and empathize with the phases of life that my patients are going through.
Dr.Neita is the most thorough doctor that I have ever been to in my life. I have and will continue to recommend her to my family and friends.actual patient
